Dr. Lowell Ackerman

 

 

Dr. Lowell Ackerman is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist, an award-winning author, an international lecturer, and a consultant in veterinary practice management. He is a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. In addition to his veterinary training, he also holds an MBA from the University of Phoenix and an MPA from Harvard University. Dr. Ackerman splits his time between clinical practice and consulting. He is a clinical associate professor at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and, in addition to veterinary specialty practice, Dr. Ackerman is a management consultant with Bizvet, Inc., dealing specifically with issues such as staff education, promotion, marketing, governance, customer service, and performance measurement. He is also involved with Universal Vet, which is involved in international continuing education events.

 

Dr. Ackerman is the author of 78 books (including “Management Basics for Veterinarians”, “The Genetic Connection”, “Handbook of Behavior Problems of the Dog and Cat”, “Canine & Feline Dermatology”, and for pet owners, “Happy Dog”, “The Contented Canine”, “Owner’s Guide to Dog Health”, “Canine Nutrition and Feeding”, and “Cat Health Encyclopedia”), and over 150 book chapters and journal articles. He lectures extensively, on an international basis. Dr. Ackerman is a member of the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association, the Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants & Advisors, the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association, the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and is President of the Association of Veterinary Communicators.
